What we won’t compromise on
Four principles, every project.
Halo is small on purpose. These are the commitments that keep it that way — and keep your project from turning into someone else’s roadmap.
Small on purpose
You work directly with the person doing the work. No accounts team, no handoffs, no PM bloat. The hands writing the code are the hands answering the email.
One brain, one builder
Design and code from the same head. Decisions don’t get lost in translation between two contractors, and the final site reflects one coherent point of view.
Your domain, your repo, your content
You own everything. No proprietary CMS, no vendor lock-in, no hostage situations at renewal. Cancel any time and the keys are still yours.
Built local, served local
Lake County address, Lake County clients, Lake County support. Not a remote agency renting a stock photo and writing copy about a place they’ve never been.
About
I’m Abe. I’m the whole agency.
Founder, designer, builder, and the guy answering your email. Halo is a one-person operation by design — and this is how it stays small enough to actually care.
I started Halo to keep design and build under one roof — nothing slips between the two, launches stay on track, and you always know who’s on the other end of an email. I personally design and build every site, so the person you talk to is the person doing the work.
Before Halo I spent 9 years across IT, support, and infrastructure — which means I’ve fixed enough broken things to recognize the broken ones early. The agencies most Lake County businesses end up working with are usually one of two flavors: too big to care about a 5-page site, or too small to deliver one that lasts. Halo is built for the businesses that fall in between.
Outside Halo I live in Volo with my kids, run a security commentary publication called Redteam Relay, and spend more time than I should at the local hobby store.
If you email Halo, I’m the one who reads it. If you hire Halo, I’m the one who builds it.
Pricing
Clear starting ranges — priced before we build.

Lake County based. Remote-ready everywhere.
Halo is registered in Volo, IL and onsite-capable across the Chicago north suburbs. Outside that radius, the workflow is fully remote — same delivery, same care, same human on email.
Lake County & the north suburbs
In-person kickoffs, regional check-ins, hardware help, and the occasional coffee meeting. Same workflow as remote — plus the option to actually meet.
The rest of the country
Full async workflow — staging links, weekly Loom walkthroughs, Slack or email. Patrick Manning Realty (Western KY) was built this way and it worked. The work doesn’t change with your zip code.
Proudly rooted in Lake County.
Halo Web Agency is a registered Lake County business, a Wauconda Area Chamber member, and listed in the directories you’d expect a real local business to be in.

Notes from the workshop.
Short writeups on what actually works for Lake County small business websites. No 4,000-word listicles, no AI fluff — just what I’ve learned shipping the last 8 sites.
Web design for Lake County small businesses: what actually moves the needle
Three things that consistently lift local rankings — and three industry-standard tactics that are mostly noise. From 8 production sites.
PerformanceWhy page speed still matters for local SEO
Core Web Vitals are no longer the dominant ranking signal, but slow sites still bleed conversions. Here’s what to fix first and what to ignore.
